PARKD

As part of my Introduction to Entrepreneurship course at the University of Miami, I co-founded ParkD, an innovative wearable technology concept designed to merge fashion and functionality in a way that simplifies daily life. The product — a sleek, smart bracelet — allows users to lock and unlock their cars, manage parking payments, and enhance personal security, all without needing their keys or phone.

The idea for ParkD emerged during a classroom brainstorming session focused on identifying everyday inconveniences that could be solved through innovation. My team and I realized that one of the most universal frustrations among drivers is juggling keys, phones, and wallets, especially in fast-paced urban settings. Whether you’re running errands, heading to a workout, or carrying groceries, the need for a hands-free yet secure way to access your vehicle and manage parking felt like an opportunity for disruption.

From that problem statement, ParkD was born — a brand that reimagines convenience through wearable technology. Our goal was to develop a product that not only served a purpose but also fit seamlessly into users’ lifestyles. We wanted to bridge the gap between high-tech innovation and everyday fashion, making a product that people genuinely wanted to wear.

As a team, we approached the venture through every stage of the entrepreneurial process — from ideation and validation to business modeling and market strategy. My primary role focused on branding, marketing development, and partnership strategy, ensuring that ParkD had both technological appeal and cultural relevance. I led the creation of the brand’s visual identity, tagline, and narrative: positioning ParkD as “wearable technology with style and purpose.”

Through market research, we identified multiple target audiences — including active professionals, tech enthusiasts, and urban commuters — who value efficiency, design, and innovation. These insights shaped our product positioning as both a tech solution and a lifestyle accessory. We designed two primary versions of the product: the ParkD Original Bracelet, a minimalist design for everyday users, and the ParkD x Gorjana Collection, a collaboration with the jewelry brand Gorjana to create a more fashion-forward, luxury version. We also conceptualized an Apple Watch integration, which would allow existing smartwatch users to sync their ParkD features directly with their devices.

The technology foundation of ParkD was built around NFC and Bluetooth connectivity. Users could simply tap the bracelet to their car door to lock or unlock it and use the ParkD mobile app to enable automatic parking payment when the vehicle was stationary. The app would detect metered spaces and start or stop payments accordingly — eliminating the need for physical tickets or parking apps.

In addition to convenience, we prioritized safety and personalization. Users could disable their bracelet remotely from the app in case of loss or theft, providing peace of mind. The combination of smart features, elegant design, and user-friendly integration made ParkD a standout idea within our class’s entrepreneurial showcase.

The business model for ParkD combined direct-to-consumer sales through e-commerce with potential retail partnerships in tech and lifestyle stores. Our projected pricing ranged from $60 for the ParkD Original, to $85 for the Gorjana x ParkD Collection, and $100 for Apple Watch-compatible versions. We developed a financial forecast that projected steady revenue growth as adoption increased, with profitability enhanced by strategic collaborations with established brands.

From a marketing perspective, I crafted a multi-channel launch plan that focused on storytelling and lifestyle appeal. Our campaign emphasized the fusion of fashion, convenience, and innovation, using the slogan “Style Meets Smart.” I proposed launching ParkD at major events like marathons, university campuses, and tech expos, where potential users could experience the product firsthand. Pop-up activations would allow attendees to test the bracelet, connect with the app, and see how it simplified everyday tasks.

Throughout the project, I learned how to take an abstract idea and turn it into a viable, market-ready business concept. I gained hands-on experience in customer validation, value proposition development, and prototype planning — all core pillars of entrepreneurship. I also discovered the importance of cross-functional collaboration: balancing creativity, technology, and business strategy to bring an innovative product to life.

Perhaps most importantly, ParkD taught me that entrepreneurship is not just about invention — it’s about understanding people. Every design, feature, and marketing decision began with empathy for the user’s experience. This project deepened my appreciation for how great businesses are built not just on innovation, but on insight, storytelling, and execution.

By the end of the semester, ParkD represented more than just a class project — it symbolized the type of entrepreneur I aspire to be: someone who blends strategy, creativity, and purpose to design products that improve lives and redefine everyday convenience.
